Made....

.... in heaven! This fair trade jewellery made in a Nairobi workshop in Kenya is my jewellery of choice at the moment. with a "trade not aid" philosophy it gives people in Africa a chance to make better lives for themselves whilst the jewellery really is stunning. I bought two necklaces and some bangles from Laura Bailey for Made and now I'm hankering after this charm bracelet and these rings for my birthday!

Wedding Bells!

My cousin is getting married tomorrow and I have been asked to do a reading! I have found this beautiful quote out of Captain Corelli's Mandolin, what you think?

Love is a temporary madness
It erupts like volcanoes and then subsides
And when it subsides you have to make a decision
You have to work out whether your roots are so entwined together
that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.

Because that is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness,
It is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just “being in love” which any fool can do.

Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two.

I heart my chums!

I really do have the bestest of friends! I had a lazy Friday afternoon, supping white wine in the garden with my friend, and my friend bought me these most beautiful sunflowers, they just make me smile looking at them! Then I had a party at my house on Saturday where friends travelled from Manchester, London, Wiltshire, Newark and nearby to our house in Nottingham. We had a great time! Then I picked up Ruby on Monday and today in the post our friends sent us this fab card from moonpig with a picture of her on the front, I love it. Talking of innovative presents, I remember when my friend sent me two boxes of "Katy cider" for my birthday, a great idea since my name is Katy and I love anything pink!

My weekend finds!

I am so happy today as I went to the Curiousity Haus Contemporary Craft fair and I picked up this AMAZING reconditioned typewriter from the 1940's! Swoon, I love it too much! It was by "Things we like" who are going to be opening at Hopkinson's Gallery in Nottingham. I also liked some of the things from Amy O'Connor, especially the picture photographed which you can buy here. I love this journal and other items sold by Stitches and starsand also the rings by Loree Bologna.

What I've been listening to this weekend!

I've had a chilled out weekend in the garden. Planting some new plants, mowing the lawn, and getting my place ready for a surprise party for my boyfriend, (he doesn't read my blog so I know I'm safe sharing this secret with you) In order to relax at the end of the days what better than a few bottles of beer and some old school dance music. Here it is, it's a treat.

Classic Teardrop Caravan

On the basis that I am not getting much closer to buying a VW campervan, I thought I may instead go for this Classic Teardrop Caravan, a fraction of the price but still oh so chic! Its available here.

J'adore ces livres

I have fallen in love with these recent purchases! Firstly the book, Everything is Alice, the wonderful book of makes. I am going to have a Mad Hatters tea party for my birthday so will be making tea set invitations, vintage cakes stands, "Drink Me" cocktails, teacup candles and fabric covered furniture. Don't worry I'll blog the results for all to see. And finally on my wish list is Decorate by Holly Becker and Joanna Copestick, this is the book from one of my favourite bloggers, it has to be seen to really appreciate it's beauty. When Liberty are a huge fan of this book, you know it's everything chic!

What I'm reading!

An absolute classic which I have heard people rave about but I had not read it or watched the film.... until now and WOW have I been missing out!! I can not put it down, American Psycho is brilliant! Graphic, funny and gruesome. I can't believe it has taken me so long to get round to reading it! Bret Eaton Ellis, you have a massive talent!
